About Overland Trails Heritage Log Homes

Ed Grant fell in love with log homes in the mid eighties when he built a weekend cabin that had been dismantled and moved to Ellijay, GA.  The attraction was so great that he turned this love into a career.  For the past 25 years Ed has designed, sold and built log homes throughout North Georgia.  Ellen Grant, Ed's wife, is involved with accounting and marketing for the company.

In 2002 we became a dealer for Heritage Log Homes.  In addition to sales awards we have served on the Dealer Advisory Committee for several years.  We have been awarded New Dealer of the Year, Commercial Dealer of the Year, Most Improved Dealer and The Presidential Award for Sales Excellence.

The Grant's are both very involved with their community.  Ed was the first President and founding member of the Gilmer Home Builders Association.  He has served on various church committees and has been involved with projects such as the local Scout Hut which was built out of logs.  Ed enjoys hunting, fishing and attending sports events with his youngest son.

Ellen currently serves on the
Gilmer Chamber of Commerce Board and the Better Hometown Board for the City of Ellijay.  She is a past president of Gilmer Arts and Heritage Association and is currently serving on the Finance and Membership committees for her church.  One of Ellen's proudest accomplishments was creating and organizing the Hospice Holiday House which raised close to $30,000.00 for Georgia Mountains Hospice during 2006 and 2007.  Ellen's hobbies are painting, crafting, reading and gardening.

The Grant's each have a son and are members of
Cherry Log Christian Church.

About The Heritage House

In a challenging economy many of us are having to "re-invent" ourselves.  We have decided to turn the upper two floors of our model into an events venue for small weddings, receptions, parties and meetings.  Over the years we have had several requests to host events and have held several parties, a couple of weddings and a CD Releasing Party.  This gives us a wonderful opportunity to let others enjoy this wonderful log home.  The name is The Heritage House, perfect as we are part of the Heritage Log Homes family.  More information will be posted soon.
